The culinary experience at Vera Vita is nothing short of extraordinary. Renowned for its masterful Italian dishes, the menu boasts a variety of sensational offerings, with woodfired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, succulent steaks, and gourmet burgers taking center stage. One cannot talk about Vera Vita without highlighting the dry-seasoned steak with bone, a standout dish praised by diners for its tender, juicy perfection and intense, smoky depth. The woodfired pizzas, such as the medium Tagliata, delight with their crispy crusts, vibrant tomato bases, and fresh toppings like baby tomatoes, peppery rocket, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar that elevates each bite into a harmonious symphony of flavors.

I was here a few days ago with friends for dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and from the entrance we were greeted by a smiling staff. We ordered a few dishes, including pizzas, pasta, steaks and burgers. I ordered a dry-seasoned steak with bone, I really liked it. In general, I recommend this restaurant, the manager came to our table and asked if we liked everything.

I have travelled to over 30 countries and live to travel to eat , there is no pastas in the world like Vera vita , the owner Angelo is artist with his design in the best Italian pasta dishes I have ever tasted Globally. This is the famous ‘Sorento’. I have had this dish for over 15 years and the taste has been only the same since then. Best Italian food I have ever tasted.

Ciao Bella! An Unforgettable afternoon at Vera Vita @ the Courtyard absolutely delivered on every front. I had the medium Tagliata (R120) wood-fired pizza—perfectly balanced with a rich tomato base, fine-quality olive oil, and topped with baby tomatoes rocket, balsamic vinegar, and onion. A standout dish that hit all the right notes. My wife opted for the pork belly (R120)—an indulgent, fall-apart tender masterpiece packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. We started with the Carpaccio (R130)—thinly sliced matured fillet steak with olive oil, balsamic reduction, coarse salt, grana cheese, and fresh rocket. A perfect prelude to the mains. I wrapped up with a flawless cappuccino, and my wife chose a bold and silky Frangelico Don Pedro to end her meal on a high. The staff were super friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was warm, modern, and stylish—a breath of fresh air in both design and atmosphere. It manages to be sleek yet practical, comfortable yet contemporary. Even the restrooms are a treat, featuring refreshing soaps and hand creams that elevate the whole experience. It honestly feels like dining in Sandton. What really sets Vera Vita apart is the owner—a serious, passionate Italian who’s hands-on from open to close, infusing every detail with pride and authenticity. And if you're in the mood for some grooming, there’s even an upscale barbershop on-site, perfect for a bit of gentlemanly self-care between courses. Just a note: it’s not the most kid-friendly venue, so best to leave the little ones with gran and enjoy a relaxed, grown-up evening out. L Highly recommended for anyone in Joburg South craving authentic Italian flavors, standout service, and a stylish setting with personality.

How do you pick a favourite meal when everything on the menu is your favourite? That’s the dilemma I have every time I visit this absolute gem of an Italian restaurant and in particular, this Saturday afternoon. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, attentive team who truly go above and beyond to make every visit feel special. The décor is just as impressive elegant yet cozy, with a touch of classic charm that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. But the real magic happens on the plate. Every dish bursts with freshness and you can taste the quality of the ingredients, you can tell there’s serious love and skill in that kitchen. If I had to name standouts (and believe me, it’s tough), the Penne Vesuvio is an absolute must, and the Steak Tagliata is cooked to perfection. Truly a phenomenal spot in every way. If you haven’t been yet, go. Just be prepared to fall in love with the whole menu.
